First month trading and I have invested in (5) stocks in May. My early strategy was to read a few books on investing. My first two books I bought:
URS - Tip from Cramer's Mad Money
MTZ - Another Tip
EGY - Researched energy stocks
The lastest Technical Analysis book brought me to this find:
HNR - Researched using my newly acquired technical analysis skills
I am now addicted to not only understanding investing but I enjoy understanding the businesses through fundamental research and then using technical analysis to choose from the healthy stocks. I am a professional with an MBA and I find the constant exposure to the financial reports, the companies strategy and resultant execution crossed with the press releases keeps me in the game at work and keeps my education sharp.
My intentions are for both quarterly investing (over the span of earnings calls for longer term) and quick month to month investing based on the technical trends which could be sustained for weeks or months.
HNR is a good example of a weekly play where the recent trends favor the stock price rising a few dollars. I own 200 shares so if the stock goes up 2 dollars then I am looking at a 400 dollar (minus fees) return within a month. Below is the chart as of June 02.
